The Valves – Robot Love (Zoom Records) 1978. These guys were some sleazy pub rockers from Edinburgh, Scotland named Angel Easy. When the punk thing hit they changed thier name to The Valves and released this scorcher on thier own Zoom Label back in 1977.
Thier story is very reminiscent of The Vibrators really except that up in Edinburgh, The Valves were worshipped while in London the Vibrators were much maligned. Which is ridiculous considering how great The Vibrators were. Anyway, I digress…
The A Side of this is a totally ridiculous song. Every time you hear it, it gets funnier. Note the way lead singer Dee Robot shouts Roboooot Looove at the end. Punk Fucking Rock baby. The Valves were Pada Valve on Drums, Ronnie Valve on Guitar and Gordon Valve on Bass.
The B Side. Well…..let me just say that Adolfs Only could be one of the best tunes ever recorded. I am not a betting man but I think Adolf and the Piss Artists may have gotten thier name from this ditty. Ha!
