Sturgeons – Punk Rock Virgins // Forward Disorder (Social Blemish Records) 1980. Here’s an old KBD single from Canada that has a Skinnies, Normals, Bureaucrats, maybe even Stiff Little Fingers feel to it. What was it with those Canadians? So many catchy throwaway singles. The A-Side is clearly the “hit” but it’s the B-Side that I like the most. That’s probably because I played the shit out of Punk Rock Virgins when I first heard it and am now tired of it. While we are on this subject, what do you think Punk Rock Virgins is about? It appears that all you Punk Rock Virgins should go home to your lonely beds and listen to Punk Rock music cuz someday you will be dead. This seems pretty vindictive. Are there a lot of Punk Rock Virgins? If so, why? Why will they soon be dead? When they die, can I have their record collections? Speaking of which, both of these tracks are on the great Smash The State Volume One Compilation that was released a few years back. You could make a lot worse music purchases than this fine platter, let me tell ya. One time member singer/guitar player Al Charlton was also in the Von Zippers with the bassist from Riot 303.The uber-cool Malfeitor posted this single way back in 2006 but I think the statute of limitations on reposting has passed. Hmmmmm, let me consult my Inter-Blogger Book of Online Etiquette. Yes. It seems OK. Phew. Glad I have this off my conscience.
